Roubignol is everything you promised it would be – and more actually!  The house is relaxed and friendly and pretty, the surroundings absolutely beautiful.  The swimming pool is one of the best “sting free” chlorinated ones we’ve ever experienced. Thank you so much for providing the perfect home for a wonderful holiday.

Truly fabulous, all our guests really loved Roubignol.  We had marvellous weather, yummy food and lots of figs and walnuts

12 of us Brits came from various places and we all had a super time.  Good weather, lots of swimming, lots of walking, visited all the markets, ate magnificently.  Went canoeing, heard the nightingales and the nightjars, tried to step on the grass snake but he was too quick for us.  Lots of lovely butterflies, birds nesting all around the house, two amorous frogs and lots of lizards.  All the villages around here are lovely: food market at Prayssac on Fridays is a knockout.

We came
We saw
It conquered………Roubignol won our hearts.  In total during these 3 weeks in July 2001 19 Americans found peace, renewed old and made new friendships, deepened love, consumed food and drank oh so much wine in this beautiful setting.

We had a ball – I laughed till my sides ached.  Oh the food, wine and countryside.  The photos don’t do justice to the house.

Our family reunion (Tunbridge Wells - Toronto - Denver) was a great success thanks to the lovely surroundings. The house was beautiful and the pool spectacular (not sure I have ever seen a pool with such a lovely panoramic view  before?). We are converts to your pool-water system – much nicer than chlorine.

A week is too short. Have loved the view, the sound of croaks and the intoxicating smell of roses. Have over indulged on local produce and wine. The pool  is great fun if a bit cool – but can’t be that bad if Grandpa was caught swimming in it in the middle of the night. Thanks for a memorable week which we will treasure forever.

Beautiful house and setting, wonderful region, fantastic weather. However, some very disappointed children spent 2 weeks looking for the elusive grass snake.  Best holiday ever.

Mervellieux..  A wonderful place for a 60th birthday party for 30 people.  Weather cheered up just at the right time. Terrific ambience.

Thank you for the wonderful stay we had at Roubignol. It was more than we would have expected, an incredible place and little Saskia loved it all.

We had such a great stay and we felt very at home, it is far better than a hotel holiday as we felt part of the community

Wonderful family week with 11 of us.  Weather warm and sunny (some rain at night only).  Une bonne fete on Friday night with much noise and revelry.

What a fantastic week!  The sun, the pool, the Cahors wine, the fresh peaches and melons - superb! The walk down to Luzech for little people is recommended.

We had an absolutely amazing time at Roubignol with 41degrees C.  We would recommend the pools at Archipel de Cahors for children and the beach on the river at St Circ Lapopie.  We look forward to a reunion at Roubignol.

My family stayed at Domaine de Roubignol during the first two weeks of August this year [2018].

I cannot fault the location or the accommodation. It's the best place I've stayed in: the house is spacious as well as homely; it is clean and well-kept; the grounds are breath-taking and the swimming pool is wonderful. Jill, the owner, has been extremely accommodating and helpful. She answers emails promptly and is set on making sure your stay is perfect.

Great for families, tranquil, close to Luzech for groceries...superb!

This year was my mum’s 80th and the best present my brother and I could think of giving is a week in her favourite part of France with her children and grandchildren. With the 6 grandchildren aged from 4-20 we needed plenty of space and a swimming pool to keep us cool and entertained. It also needed to be something a little bit special and different to the places we’d visited in the past. Roubignol seemed to fit all criteria perfectly. The big house provided interesting and comfortable accommodation for all. Having terraces on two sides meant we could choose whether to have our meals in the shade or sunshine. The separate tower turned into a great getaway for the 4 older children. It was a really hot week, so we spent quite a bit of time by the pool which was immaculately clean, well maintained and a joy to use with easy steps for my mum and the 4 year old to be able to get safely in and out. With 11 of us, lots of cooking and eating occurred and the kitchen couldn’t be better equipped to meet all of our needs.

We made a few little trips in the surrounding area, Luzech is small but charming and we had a lovely lunch by the river on market day. We hired some bicycles which was good for those of us not scared of a few hills. The Cahors wines are wonderful, the adults had a very enjoyable afternoon sampling them in the local vineyards and received a welcoming reception everywhere.

We rented the premises for a 'familymoon' after our marriage. This was a first in France for some of our family and Roubignol was ideal. Great swimming pool occupied the grandchildren and the Domaine is well located for exploring the Lot valley. The house accommodated 12 of us with ease and we were grateful to Jill for organising a few supplies as we arrived on a Sunday afternoon. In the end a week was never long enough but we had a fantastic time and would happily go back to the area and property again. Thank you Jill!

We spent a wonderful week in Domaine de Roubignol with friends and children. The weather was what you might expect in the south of France and the place was perfect for our two families. The house has a lot of space and a large kitchen with all the equipment you need. The two terraces with parasols make it possible to sit in or out of the sun. And the swimming pool with a nice view on the estate was delicious.

There is a lot to see in the area. The Lot to start with. It is beautiful to see, but if you like kayaking, you’d better take a daytrip to the Dordogne. Cahors is a very nice town and in every little village you find nice places for lunching or dining. There are also a lot of wineries in the area with ‘degustation’.

Our only problem was that we spent so much time in Roubignol, making all kinds of French food en drinking the local wine, that we missed a lot of the area. We’ll have to come back soon!

Review of our stay at Roubignol

We had another fabulous week at Roubignol,  as a family of 5 adults, this August 2022. It felt really special returning after our wonderful experience there 2 years ago, when we were 10 in total.

The house is so spacious and comfortable, offering shade from the heat when needed and the pool is breathtaking. We’ve never been in one that offers such an amazing panoramic view. There was so much we could do onsite (and did), aside from swimming and playing in the pool, including playing boules, table-tennis and going on walks. We also enjoyed a visit to and tasting at Chateau Eugenie, just 10 mins from the house, a fun, physical Aquapark experience in Catus, 22 mins away and a delicious meal in Cahors.

Thank you Jill, for being so helpful and accommodating, every step of the way of our booking, journey and stay. It was lovely to receive your welcoming call on our first evening there.

Roubignol will forever be in our memories and hearts. I can’t recommend it highly enough.

Roubignol provided the perfect formula for a holiday with our four adult children and their partners. One week of rest and relaxation around a beautiful pool and delicious cheese and wine on the shaded balconies. It was difficult to entice our family away to explore pretty villages but local wine tasting was a great success and despite the intense heat, we enjoyed the shaded streets of old Cahors. The more enthusiastic in our party wandered down into the local village on the woodland walks to play tennis and the ping-pong in the upper barn provided much laughter. Could have stayed forever...

I do hope that we can enjoy your lovely house sometime in the future.

We spent a week here as a group of nine. We have had a great time here. A beautiful house in a great area that is unspoilt and full of so many things to do. The house is perfectly set up - kitchen is full of all the things you need, excellent indoor and outdoor spaces, fantastic pool. Jill was brilliant to deal with and has loads of practical and useful advice. The walk down to Luzech is beautiful - we did it three times visiting restaurants, vineyards and other sites. This is an ideal house for a large group - plenty of rooms to spread out. Thanks and we hope to come again. Ed and family. E.D.  2023

We loved the house inside and out and the wooded valley was just beautiful and so peaceful. The pool is situated in such a lovely spot, with views of the valley and many options for natural shade during the day. It’s been a while since I have seen so many butterflies, and we identified redstarts nesting in the roof. I really enjoyed spending time in each of the living areas of the house - the light and airy salon on the upper floor, the darker, cooler lower floor, perfect for lunches on hot days, and the two terraces with their different aspects. I was delighted by the choices of antique French furniture and objets, and the painted decoy pigeons in the rafters of the tower charmed the children and adults in our group. There is a lovely downhill walk to the nearest village through the woods and then meadows. On one of the days of our visit, we joined in the festival atmosphere in the village when the women’s Tour de France whizzed by.
